Linocut design for a box wrap

This is a fun project! It’s still in progress, so might change a bit before the final is sent to print. I carved a topographical linocut illustration of Vancouver Island and the surrounding sea floor for a box wrap for Vancouver Island Gift Basket Co.

New Linocut direction

After recently carving an entire colour layer backwards, I was looking for another way to get colour onto my printed linocut illustrations. I wasn’t in love with watercolour or gouache because of their slight opaqueness that conflicts with the existing block print. I had some comic markers kicking around and gave them a shot, and […]

Block printed pencil cases

This holiday season I found myself looking for new gift giving ideas, and thought I’d try hand printing some fabric with my smaller linocuts and sewing them into pencil cases (I’m only calling them pencil cases because I don’t wear makeup, but they could be makeup bags too). Took a bit of trial and error […]

Two new local Spirit’s labels

I designed, illustrated and carved linoleum blocks for these two latest spirits from deVine Spirits. Eagerly anticipating seeing the finished product in person and on shelves. They’re at the printers right now.

2015 Chalk Festival – my second year

I participated in the chalk festival this weekend, finished up my sqare (8 foot by 10 foot) this morning, after a long day yesterday. I illustrated an image of Mary Agnes Capilano (Lay-Hu-Lette), born in 1836. During last year’s chalk festival I found that visitors wanted to tip me, but I wasn’t prepared (or comfortable) […]

New Business cards

I really liked the “selfie linocut with roses” I did, and since I’d also recently redesigned my logo, it was time for new business cards. I printed these with Jukebox Printing, on a 20 point cream pulp stock, 90% Post Consumer Stock. I love the combination of the inky graphic linocut with the pulpy paper. […]

linocut illustrations for deVine Spirits labels

A project that is right up my alley; design labels for deVine Spirit’s line of new spirits using linocut illustrations for the main component of the product’s branding. I love them all. They’re currently at the printers, and will have a spot gloss on the side panel on the logo, and emboss embellishments highlighting the […]

Linocut selfie with roses

There’s a ‘selfie’ show in August that I’m taking part in. I carved this yesterday and am considering it for my submission. I still want to add a bit of colour in the flowers and maybe the area behind the right of my head. I haven’t decided if that colour should be another lino block, […]

Skillshare class – Halftone self portrait

I got home late Friday night and wanted to start this Skillshare project I’d enrolled in earlier. I chose an ink drawing out of my sketchbook to scan and use as a starting point. Brought it into photoshop to clean up and crop into a circle. I like circles, but chose to let one of […]

Food Truck Mural

I was asked to paint a mural on a food truck. I jumped at the opportunity to spend a weekend with my dog in the incredibly beautiful Sayward, painting. The trailer was painted with a coat of red oil based stain, so I designed it to be a simple, graphic, design that I could block […]
