Proudly presenting Tula Teas. Tula’s launch coincided with the Victoria Tea Festival, where the reception was hot. The brand new company enjoyed a surprise mention in Eat Magazine, as a lovely budding local company to watch for. Not to mention the droves of buyers interested in the pretty new business.
Tula believes that “the best teas come from small, family-owned tea gardens”. The attention to detail, quality and specialization in the tea is reflected in the logo and packaging. Tula has launched with a line of 34 teas, branching from 5 categories; White, Oolong, Black, Green and Tisanes. The packaging features a free floating tag which is double sided. The backside is printed upside down, so that when flipped the brewing and harvesting information is available.
This method of printing and design is more than just pretty, it’s environmentally friendly. We’ve managed to avoid using an adhesive sticker, which is plastic and generally not environmentally friendly. In addition, if we’d used a label stock for the packaging, we’d have had to print and slap one on the back for the brewing info. Two labels (front and back) = double the price and double the label stock and ink. We came up with an environmentally effective and cost effective solution to this package design puzzle.
Tula Teas will be available at various locations including Niagara Grocery, Plenty, and online.

I like how the tea is represented in full flower and leaf form. It’s kind of unusual, but helps to think about the tea from a-to-z, rather than just a product in a bag.
I love that you put so much thought into the end result with your designs. Its so frustration to have packaging that looks great but just isn’t functional or doesn’t jive with the company’s methodology.
