Amigurumi knits – a Black Devil Anglerfish !!!

I bought ‘Amigurumi knits- patterns for 20 cute mini knits’ by Hansi Singh last Friday from Munro’s book store, downtown Victoria. The knitting and crafting books are deliciously close to the graphic design, visual arts, painting and drawing books. I could spend forever in that one spot. At home, I spent the majority of my free time the next 6 days knitting my very own Black Devil Angerfish. Hansi’s patterns are awesome, I’d previously bought the Octopus, Squid and Jackalope in pdf form from her etsy site. I was so excited to have found this book, with great photos and limitless fascination. They aren’t the sort of patterns you can bring to Victoria’s beaches to knit, they’re too complex (for me right now, anyway). They’re enjoyable, even if you do have to sit in a quiet room to get enough focus.

I would really like to jump into the hermit crab pattern, but am taking a break to knit another christmas toque.. because toques are easy and don’t need a patterns.

YAY Amigurumi!!

    Here’s a dumb idea:

maybe you could stick a light in his head-protuberance? Perhaps an LED flashlight with a bendy neck and small bulb? Then it would be just like the real thing. Exactly like it.

Nathan also REALLY wants me to install a light in there. Great minds think alike, you two.

I made the octopus and the starfish from the same book. LOVE the octopus, I put pipe cleaners in its legs and it turned out great… I was thinking about attempting the Black Devil Anglerfish next, you have inspired me!
